Christmas Parade: music, floats & Santa!

Revelers of all ages came out Saturday for the Christmas Parade in Abbeville.

With the week already filled with snow, cold temperatures, decorations and lights around town, the warming temperatures Saturday were equally as welcome for those who came to play.

Abbeville High School’s band filled the air with music and the drum line cadence helped to keep everyone’s anticipation upbeat. Christmas from around the world was represented as visiting foreign exchange students from Tunesia, Germany, Korea and others were riding a float and throwing goodies to the crowd.

Local and visiting festival queens of all ages had their floats and cars to ride through the festive crowd as well.

Several businesses were represented on floats throughout the parade with some iproviding coupons to use later in the stores and restaurants. Beads and candy were the main throws, but some included stuffed animals as prizes to catch.

Ending the parade to cheers and glee was the jolly man from the north, Santa Claus, along with his wife and escorted by one of the elves.
