CHS' Boulet out for Cecilia game
BY CHRIS QUEBEDEAUX
CROWLEY – The Crowley Gents will have to do without the services of their leading rusher Friday when they entertain
Cecilia in a key Class AAA contest at Gardiner Memorial Stadium.
The game, which is also the Gents’ Homecoming contest, is slated for a 7 o’clock kickoff.
Steven Boulet, who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns in Crowley’s season-opening 22-19 victory over LaGrange, was sidelined last week with an apparent knee injury during the Gents’ first offensive series in a 12-0 shutout of Iowa.
Boulet is also a standout on defense, playing linebacker for the Gents.
Crowley coach Tommy Tate would not go into specifics about the injury, saying only that Boulet would not dress out for this week’s game.
“Good football teams have to overcome injuries,” said Tate. “Everybody goes through them; it’s not something that you like, but injuries do happen. It’s just a shame that it happened to this young man, Steven Boulet, because he puts his heart and soul into it and I’m sure that’s killing him that he’s not getting the opportunity to play this week.”
Juniors Josh Citizen (5-10, 170) and Troy Wilridge (5-9, 165) will be called on to carry the load in Boulet’s absence. Citizen took over for the senior running back last week, rushing 21 times for 61 yards.
