CHS Ladies crush Northwest; Lady Pios slip past NISH
CROWLEY – The Crowley High Ladies made short work of Northwest on Saturday in a non-district contest at CHS.
The Ladies (17-6, 2-2) belted out seven hits and scored 11 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 19-0 victory over the Lady Raiders in a game that was halted after the third inning due to the mercy rule.
The Ladies sent 16 batters to the plate in the opening frame and took advantage of three errors and two walks to break the game open.
Skylor Huval and Heather Trahan each drove in two runs with singles while Olivia Boullion drove in a run with a triple. Megan Guidry doubled home a run and Bailee Villejoin, Katelyn Killmer and Maddie LeBouef each had an RBI single.
Boullion, who earned the victory in the circle, gave up a two-out single in the second inning but struck out the next batter to end the frame.
The Ladies put the game away in the bottom of the frame despite getting just one hit.
Northwest aided in Crowley’s eight-run inning by committing one error and issuing seven free passes. The Ladies lone hit was an RBI single by Trahan.
Boullion had two strikeouts and a line out in the top of the third to close out the game. She gave up just one hit and struck out six in earning the three-inning victory.
Late rally lifts Lady Pios
past New Iberia
CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Lady Pios scored four runs in the sixth inning to rally past New Iberia Senior High Saturday afternoon at Hensgens Park.
The Lady Pios (21-5, 4-0) took a 7-3 advantage after three innings before the Lady Jackets rallied for four runs in the fourth to knot the game at 7-7.
Notre Dame responded with four runs in the sixth on two hits, an error and three walks. Taylor Satchell, who drew a leadoff walk, scored on the error before Megan Murrell delivered a two-run single to center field. Alexa Thibodeaux capped the scoring with a bases-loaded walk to give the Lady Pios an 11-7 lead.
Mollie Stelly, pitching in relief of Zoie Lavergne, got out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh inning with a strikeout and a flyout to end the game.
Lavergne pitched the first four innings and surrendered seven runs on five hits and seven walks. She struck out two.
Stelly worked the final three innings, allowing no runs on no hits and two walks. She struck out five in earning the victory.
Murrell paced the Lady Pios at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance that included three RBI. Brittney Nolan and Taylor Boulet had two hits each and Allie Daigle had a double and an RBI. Thibodeaux, Satchell and Elise LeBeouf each added a hit and an RBI while Stelly and Bellard each had a single.

Iota past Welsh
IOTA – The Iota Bulldogs clubbed out 16 hits and scored nine runs in the final two innings to upend Welsh, 14-4, in a non-district contest at the Bulldogs’ home field Saturday.
The Dogs (9-9) pushed across six runs in the fifth inning on a pair of two-run singles by Michael Thevis and Jon Michael Trahan, an RBI single by Austen Montgomery and a sacrifice fly by Kyle Smith.
Iota put the game away in the sixth inning with three runs on three hits, two walks and one Welsh error.
Smith earned the victory after giving up two runs on five hits and three walks. He struck out four in five innings of work. Thevis pitched the final inning and gave up two runs on three hits.
Thevis also led the Dogs at the plate with a perfect 5-for-5 performance that included three RBI. Montgomery and Michael Reed each had two hits and drove in two runs, John LeJeune had two singles and one RBI and Tim Lunson also had two hits. Trahan had one hit and three RBI, Smith drove in two runs on one hit and Garrett Reppond added a single.
