CHS Ladies, Lady Pios pick up district victories
CROWLEY – The Crowley Ladies rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to slip past Iowa, 5-3, Tuesday afternoon in the District 4-3A opener for both teams.
With the victory, the Ladies improved to 14-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
Olivia Boullion logged the victory in the circle after allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits. She struck out 11 in seven innings.
Iowa took a 3-1 lead after three innings of play before the Ladies tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of two errors and an RBI single from Heather Trahan.
Taylor Grabowski started the rally in the sixth inning with a leadoff double to left field. Kristen Bonin then put the Ladies on top for good with an RBI single to left. Boullion added an insurance run with a run-scoring single to right field.
Boullion then closed out the game in the bottom of the frame by logging two strikeouts and a groundout.
Boullion, Bonin and Trahan led the Ladies at the plate with two hits and an RBI each. Killmer and Skylor Huval each had one hit and an RBI and Grabowski added a double.
Lady Pios cruise
JENNINGS – The Notre Dame Lady Pios made short work of Jennings on Tuesday as they cruised to a 21-0 mercy rule victory in the District 4-3A opener for both teams.
The Lady Pios (14-5, 1-0) unleashed 19 hits on the day with every starter recording at least one hit and one RBI.
Mollie Stelly led the offensive attack with a 4-for-4 performance that included a double and three RBI. Taylor Satchell added three hits, including two triples and five RBI, and Allie Daigle had two doubles, a single and four RBI. Taylor Boulet had two hits and two RBI while Brittney Nolan had two hits.
In addition, Megan Murrell and Harley Bellard each had one hit and two RBI; Alexa Thibodeaux and Elise LeBeouf each had one hit and one RBI and Mira Lavergne rounded out the barrage with a single.
Stelly earned the victory in the circle. She limited Jennings to just one hit and struck out seven in three innings.
Kylie Hanks had the lone hit for Jennings, a two-out single in the first inning.
