Church Point and Mermentau to benefit from LCDBG grants
Both Church Point and Mermentau will benefit from over $10.5 million in Louisiana Community Development Block Grants that were issued Friday afternoon.
The grants were awarded to rural communities to be used for infrastructure projects and local housing improvements.
Church Point will receive $417,584 to rehabilitate 20 streets and construct five new streets within the town.
Over in Mermentau, $523,696 was issued to conduct an evaluation survey to identify problems within the sewer collection system and make the needed repairs.
Other towns in the area to receive grants were Abbeville, Breaux Bridge, Cankton, Duson, Erath, Grand Coteau, Jeanerette, Kaplan, Maurice, New Iberia, Sunset, Vermilion Parish Police Jury, St. Landry Parish Government, Youngsville, Iberia Parish Government, Morgan City and Patterson.
