Church Point cruises past Beau Chene
CHURCH POINT - The Church Point Bears rolled to an easy victory here Friday night with a 42-3 thumping of the Beau Chene Gators.
The Bears took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Jake Morvant ran in from the one-yard line, then connected with Jacques Wimberley on a 21-yard touchdown pass. Kian Richard kicked both PATs as the Bears took the lead.
Beau Chene cut the lead to 14-3 on Cole Cormier’s 21-yard field goal in the second quarter, but the Bears’ Deion Monroe scored on a 28-yard run and Richard booted the PAT to send the Bears into halftime with a 21-3 lead.
It was all Church Point in the second half. Morvant ran 55 yards for a touchdown and Monroe added a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter as the Bears built a 35-3 advantage with Richard’s two PAT kicks.
The Bears ended the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run by Donovan Gallow in the fourth quarter. Richard added his sixth PAT kick to complete the scoring.
In addition to rushing three times for 59 yards, Morvant completed two passes for an additional 36 yards. Monroe finished with 57 rushing yards on eight carries.
The Gators were limited to a total offense of 89 yards and just two first downs by the Bears defense.
Tailback Deandrea Bossier picked up 50 yards on seven carries for the Gators while quarterback junior quarterback John Livings completed one of his four passes for a 13-yard gain to Jordan Lee.
Church Point will play host to Kaplan Friday.
