Church Point hostage situation ends peacefully

Wayne Boudreaux, 44, of Church Point is currently being held at the Acadia Parish Jail facing charges of aggravated assault with a fire arm and Domestic Battery 1st Offense following a hostage situation Sunday.

Reportedly, Boudreaux and his girlfriend began fighting at a Mardi Gras parade when they decided to return to their Roxy Highway home (located two miles off of South Highway 35) along with their five-year-old daughter and two-year-old son. The two continued arguing outside the home. Upon entering his residence, Boudreaux retrieved his gun.

His girl friend along with the five-year-old left the home and hid in a field near their home. Alledgedly, Boudreaux held the two-year-old hostage for four hours as authorities attempted to talk him into releasing the child and exiting the home.

Some time Sunday evening a family member convinced Boudreaux to open the door. Authorities on the scene arrested and booked Boudreaux into the Acadia Parish jail Sunday night. As of press time, he is being held and bond has not been set. The situation is still under investigation by parish officials and Boudreaux may still face additional charges including child endangerment.
