Church Point man arrested for Tuesday’s home invasions
CHURCH POINT – Authorities in Acadia Parish have arrested a 22-year-old Church Point man and charged him with two counts of home invasion and aggravated battery following an investigation by detectives with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, shortly after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning his office received a call from an elderly resident that reported a home invasion on St. Louis Street near Church Point.
Upon arrival deputies learned that the suspect had forced his way into the home two times and took nothing upon exiting. Deputies also reported that while the suspect was attempting to make entry one of the residents was struck by the door. The homeowners did not require medical attention.
Carey Jonquil Citizen, 22, of Corporation Street in Church Point was arrested without incident Tuesday afternoon. He is being charged with two counts of home invasion and one count of aggravated assault. He was placed in the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $170,000 by District Judge Glenn Everett.
The Church Point Police Department assisted the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
