Church Point rolls past Avoyelles
CHURCH POINT - The Avoyelles Mustangs were no match for the Church Point Bears Friday night.
The Bears scored in every quarter as they roared past the Mustangs by a 47-8 margin.
The Bears opened the scoring in the first quarter on Von Duplechain’s three-yard run and a PAT kick by Brock Latiolais. Later in the quarter, Jacob Boone scored from four yards out to make it 13-0.
The Mustangs cut the lead to 13-8 on an 84-yard run by Matthew McGee and a successful two-point conversion.
The Bears scored in the second quarter on a one-yard run by Zack Quibodeaux. A Ty Leger to Duplechain pass provided the Bears with a two-point conversion and a 21-8 lead at the half.
Duplechain and Quibodeaux scored on two-yard runs in the third quarter, and Latiolais kicked a PAT to put the Bears on top 34-8 heading into the fourth quarter.
Boone added his second touchdown of the night in the fourth quarter with a 17-yard run, and Laine Miller kicked the PAT for a 41-8 advantage.
James Bellard completed the scoring with a 10-yard run in the fourth quarter for the 47-8 final.
Duplechain finished with 118 yards in 12 carries, while Quibodeaux had 100 yards on 15 attempts to lead the Bears. Boone added 58 yards on 17 carries.
Leger completed six of 10 passes for 91 yards as the Bears totaled 416 yards of offense against the Mustangs.
McGee led Avoyelles with 15 carries for 152 yards.
