City Council Handles Short Agenda Monday

In a 15-minute meeting Monday night, the Rayne City Council approved a 30-day lease of the city fairgrounds to the Rayne Chamber of Commerce for the sum of $10, in order to conduct the 2009 Frog Festival.

The Council also ordered the owner of a building at 517 Ann Drive to demolish the structure within 60 days.

City Engineer Tim Mader reviewed ongoing projects. He reported preliminary design work is underway for the access road to the future Frogland USA Water Park.

Mayor Jim Petitjean complimented Police Chief Carroll Stelly on the newly designed department uniform patch which incorporated the city frog logo.

The Mayor and Council members also extended Happy Thanksgiving messages to the city’s employees and residents.
