CROWLEY – Recently, the city of Crowley, in cooperation with CGI Communications, has been working has been working to add a promotional video for the city. CGI as a company that provides many different types of internet sources, such as eLocalLink.
Harry Porter, who has been in the video filming industry for most of his life, was hired by CGI to video Crowley. Harry and his wife Doylene, arrived in Crowley on Tuesday morning from their home in Morgan City.
For the past two days, they have visited focal areas, such as the rice mills, and historic markers such as City Hall, Levy Park, and the First Methodist Church, to obtain video footage for a link that will eventually be viewable via Crowley’s website.
“It has definitely been interesting. We went to the top of the First Bank building and shot portions of Main Street from there,” said Doylene. “We also enjoyed visiting the cafe and the courtyard. It was very pretty,” she added.
Doylene stated they were also able to see some of the beautiful homes, and Levy Park. “The hardest part,” she informed, “was finding people to participate.”
Charlotte Jeffers, Crowley Tourism Coordinator, is very much excited about the website since it will be a great asset to the city of Crowley. Different assets of the city will be featured, broken down into categories. Categories will have titles, such as Health Care, Education, Economic Development, so that viewers will immediately be able to select the area that piques their interest.
The folks at City Hall hope that this new informational link will promote tourism, and will be a resource for Crowley residents for years to come.
