City to pave recreation complex access road
The City of Eunice plans to pave the entrance drive to its recreation complex on Sittig Road.
Mayor Bob Morris said the city has about $97,000 in funds from the St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Commission that will be used for the paving project. He has no estimate of the project cost.
The funds come from appropriations to local government by the commission and must be used for road improvements or maintenance.
The recreation complex is approaching its third spring-summer youth baseball and softball season. Neither the entry road nor the parking lot are paved.
On another road improvement matter, the mayor said roads have not yet been designated for $150,000 to be added to the street improvement program.
In November, the city receive a low bid that much under the estimate it had made for the biannual improvement program.
The City Council voted to use the leftover capital outlay money by adding roads to the overlay list.
Morris said the Street Department has provided some input into possible additions. And there are sections of streets left over from City Council members's lists turned in earlier in the year.
