Class of ‘42 holds reunion
Members of the Rayne High School graduating class of 1942 gathered on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne for a class reunion luncheon.
Classmates in attendance of the original 50-member class were Evie Harmon, Ruby Gilliland, Elizabeth Thibodaux, Rita Neu, Elvie Guilbeau, Will Robert Kennedy, Charles “Moon” Chappuis, B.I. Moody and Herbert Hernandez.
Noted during the reunion was the Pledge of Allegiance, roll call, introduction of guests, reading of minutes, and a moment of silence for the deceased classmates.
Class officers included president Charles “Moon” Chappuis, vice president Margaret McGrew, secretary Nell Cunningham, and treasurer Allen Plattsmier.
The class motto was “The Past Gone Forever, The Future Still Our Own.” Class colors were scarlet and silver, and the class flower the sweet pea. The school’s Alma Mater was the class song.
The classmates enjoyed a time of reminising, along with beverages and a meal.
