Class Reunion Held
The Iota High School class of 1942 held their class reunion on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Chef Roy’s Frog City Café in Rayne.
The class of 45 members has now dwindled down to 16, with most of the spouses also deceased. Only six of the remaining classmates still have a mate, and two of these classmates are husband and wife.
Class officers were president Philip Amy, vice president Cullen Bernard, secretary-treasurer Edith Joy Major, who are all now deceased.
Committee members for the reunion were chairman Ella Bertrand, Avery Bertrand, Verna “Lou” Miller and Joel Pousson.
All enjoyed a great meal of fried shrimp, gilled chicken breast or hamburger steak with all the trimmings. A “Class of 42” cake was served for dessert.
The class motto was “Forward ever, Backward never.” Class colors were red, white and blue, with the class flowers red and white roses.
All classmates attending were presented a “goodie” bag, along with a class picture from the previous reunion.
Attending the reunion were Ella Bertrand, Avery Bertrand, Verna “Lou” Miller, Joel Pousson, Anna Reed, Audrey Pousson, J.D. Bertrand, Loah Simar, Belva Burger and Gilton Pousson. Several family members and friends of the classmates were also in attendance.
