CROWLEY - Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley for Clifford “Red” Joseph Primeaux, 83, who died Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Crowley.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial and the committal services at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Monday. Visitation may be observed from 4 p.m. Sunday until 10 p.m.; from 9:00 a.m. Monday until 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Red was born September 16, 1925 to the late Alcide and Melissa Primeaux in Lyons Point. He worked for 20 plus years at the Whiteway Laundry as a delivery driver and prior to that he was an insurance salesman. He was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed gardening and raising animals, but his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Agnes T. Primeaux of Crowley; three daughters, Ethel Rose T. Brossett and her husband Roland of Glenmora, Sandra P. Trahan and her husband, Robert of Lafayette and Phyllis P. Chiasson and her husband, Eric of Lafayette; one sister, Edia Primeaux of Gueydan and two brothers Avery Primeaux of Houston and Linson “Tui” Primeaux of Crowley; eleven grandchildren, Wayne N. Richard, Burt A. Richard, Christopher Richard, Jeremy P. Trahan, Kiely M. Trahan, Taylor M. Chiasson, Mary Katherine Chiasson, Stephen P. Chiasson, Elizabeth A. Chiasson, David and Christi Brossett ; a great grandchild Zoe Trahan and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Glen Primeaux; 2 sisters, Ezia Sonnier and Velma Lafosse and seven brothers Ennes, Ennis, Cleveland, Lawrence, Hilliard, Luke and Ellis Primeaux.
The family sends their gratitude to the caring staff of Southwind Nursing Home, Lamm Home Health, Dr. Chad Vincent and his staff and all who cared for him.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy P. Trahan, Taylor M. Chiasson, Stephen P. Chiasson, Wayne N. Richard, Burt A. Richard and Christopher Richard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Trahan, Charles Trahan, Randall Trahan, Michael Primeaux, Zachary Richard, David Brossett, Darryl Hulin, Keith Frederick, Glen Higginbotham, Carl Hulin, Brian Jennings, Russell Primeaux and Scotty Trahan.
