Commission launches new website

By Shantelle Breaux

CROWLEY – Tourism was the topic at the recent Crowley Rotary Club meeting. Paul Broussard and Gwen Hanks spoke about the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission, and Andrew Gibson with GT Technical Solutions spoke about the new website for the Tourist Commission that was just launched.

The work of Gwen Hanks, the executive director of the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission, is, simply put, to promote Acadia Parish as a tourist destination. She spreads the word that the parish is a great place to visit and live.

“None of this comes without a lot of work from the commission,” said Broussard.

Acadia Tourist Commission board members are Norma Benoit, town of Morse; Kayla Link, Crowley Chamber of Commerce; Frances Bihm, member at large; Roger Boudreaux, town of Church Point; Jan Cormier, Rayne Chamber of Commerce; Elaine Chatagnier, town of Iota; Keith Henry, town of Mermentau; Betty Miller, city of Crowley; Cheryl McCarty, city of Rayne; and Charlotte Jeffers, member at large.

Helping spread the word about parish attractions is the new website at Gibson, who worked on the website, presented a video highlighting and explaining attractions on the website. Pictures on the website show Acadia Parish at it’s best, and a video brings the viewer up close and personal with the area. Also available for download is the Acadia Parish Visitors Guide. Information about events, attractions, and accommodations are also available on the website, as is music from local artists.
