Community Choir to perform at Day of Prayer event
CROWLEY – Rev. Jimmy Broussard, director of the Community Choir, has announced that the choir has been asked to sing at the National Day of Prayer service on May 5 at the Rice Festival building.
The group held its first rehearsal was held on Saturday, April 16, at the First Baptist Church on Fourth Street. Additional rehearsals have been set for Saturday, April 30 at 9:45 a.m. and a final rehearsal at Monday, May 2, at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church also.
The choir originally formed to perform at the Festival of Life citywide revival in March 2010. At the time, the choir sang with nationally-known singer Jason Crabb when they performed the song “I’m Amazed.”
The National Day of Prayer Service is another opportunity for Christians of all faiths and color to come together and continue the spirit of community which began at the Festival of Life.
The Community Choir was and continues to be an integral part of this spiritual movement. All members of the choir and any other interested singers are invited and urged to participate. The music is a blessing for both the audience and the performer if they do this for the glory of God. The choir urges all those interested to make this commitment to come and share your talent.
In addition to Broussard, the director, Joanna Pruitt will serve as accompanist in Susan Comeaux’s absence, with Elaine Simon assisting with publicity.
The choir sends their thanks to Rev. Roger Tarver and Rev. Larry Evans for their assistance.
