Connecticut Man booked into Acadia Parish Jail for charges relating to child sexual offenses
Acadia Parish- Today, Louisiana State Police detectives assigned to the Lafayette Field Office extradited a Connecticut man back to Louisiana for a warrant they obtained for crimes relating to child sexual offenses.
In December 2010, detectives received information about 20-year-old Harold Bushnell of Middletown, CT. The information initially obtained by detectives indicated that Bushnell had engaged in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in Acadia Parish.
As detectives began gathering their evidence, they learned that Bushnell met the juvenile in an online gaming chat room. While in the chat room, Bushnell engaged in sexually explicit conversation with the juvenile. Detectives were also able to obtain evidence indicating that Bushnell drove from Connecticut to Acadia Parish and engaged in sexual intercourse with the underage girl.
Based on all the information they gathered, detectives were able to secure a warrant for Bushnell’s arrest for charges relating to child sexual offenses. Earlier this week, Bushnell was arrested by authorities in Connecticut for the warrant. Bushnell waived extradition back to Louisiana, and arrived back in the state at 8:15 this evening. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail without incident.
This case was part of Operation Child Watch. The mission of Operation Child Watch is to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators who prey on the innocence of a child. Louisiana State Police will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest these individuals.
