Cory Richard weds Hayley Gossen
RAYNE - Hayley Elizabeth Gossen of Rayne married Cory Blaize Richard on Friday June 1, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Father William Ruskoski officiated the ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The bride’s cousins, Anna Claire Gossen and Leeann Gray were altar servers during the Nuptial Mass. Scripture was read by Danielle Hodges and Joseph Fruge’ with musical selections provided by Ellen Kay Baggett, Joseph Stemplewski and Connie Beaugh. Offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Dana Leger, Tanya Bell and Donald Leleux, all godparents of the bride, and Jerri Bain, godmother of the groom.
The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Nina Gossen of Rayne and she is the granddaughter of Roland and Lynell Melancon and Frederick and Annette Gossen, all of Rayne.
She is a 2010 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish and is presently attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a major in dental hygiene.
The groom is the son of Candi Richard of Crowley and he is the grandson of Wayne and Thelma Richard of Crowley.
He is a 2007 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish, a 2011 nursing graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is employed by Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless A-line ivory gown by “Blue by Enzoani” with a ruched bodice. Hand pleated flower and rhinestone appliques surround the natural waistline. A silky, beaded organza lace overlay embellished the chapel length skirt and train. Her lovely headpiece was a rhinestone headband with a chapel length veil. She carried a bouquet of red Ecuadorian roses with “something borrowed.”
In keeping with tradition, Hayley carried in her bouquet her great grandmother, Nella Landry LaGrange’s, rosary, representing that something old. Her dress and veil were new. The groom’s grandfather, Wayne Richard’s, wedding ring and the bride’s grandmother’s brooch was also carried in the bride’s bouquet, representing something borrowed. A gift from her bridesmaids, monogrammed fabric sewn into her bridal dress, was blue.
The maid of honor was Caroline Stewart, the bride’s friend. Bridal attendants were A-line Gossen and Andree’ Dupuis, both cousins of the bride; Meghan Curley, friend of the bride; and Missy Hebert and Caitlin Istre, both friends of the bride and groom. Junior bridesmaid was Emma Gossen, the bride’s sister.
The bridal attendants wore black formals in chiffon charmeuse. They were coordinated with rhinestone and black earrings and bracelets, which were gifts from the bride.
Best man was D.J. Hebert, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Matthew Gossen, brother of the bride; Dusty Dischler, friend of the bride and groom; and Travis Leonard, Brandon Orso and Byron Fuselier, all friends of the groom. Junior groomsman was Austin Gossen, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Stephen Dupuis, cousin of the bride, and Reed LeMaire, friend of the groom.
The groom was handsomely dressed in a black tuxedo and shirt with an ivory jacket and tie. The groomsmen and ushers were attired in black tuxedos with black shirts and ivory ties as well. Each man was adorned with a red boutonnieres.
The mother of the bride, Nina Melancon Gossen, wore a Notte plum amethyst silk chiffon formal. Stiffened organza ruffles adorn the one shoulder with a pleated bodice and ruched waist. Gold accessories highlighted her ensemble.
The mother of the groom, Candi Richard, chose a pewter shimmer taffeta formal accented with a ruched bodice and a cascading ruffle. A matching jacket and baroque pearl accessories completed her attire.
A reception followed at Point aux Loup Springs Ballroom in Iota. The ballroom was decorated with silver accents throughout with greenery and black candelabras with ivory candles on the tables.
The bridal cake was a multi tiered ivory confection decorated with clusters of red roses and black dots and was topped with a distinctive black “R,” representing the couple’s initials.
The groom’s cake was a chocolate cake topped with a fleur de lis and an iced confection stethoscope.
The cakes were served by the godmothers of the bride and groom.
A rehearsal dinner was held Thursday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at the Green Room in Rayne, hosted by the groom’s family. Fried catfish, crawfish etouffee and all the trimmings were served.
Guests arrived from Tennessee, Texas and various parts of Louisiana.
After a wedding trip to Key West, Fla., the newly married couple will reside in Rayne.
