Council recognizes Choplin's Christmas cheer

St. Martinville — Diligent and dedicated Knights of Columbus member George Choplin said he is "still like a child, even at 60," at least when it comes to the holidays, that is.

Choplin was recognized by Mayor Thomas Nelson and the St. Martinville City Council at its Jan. 20 meeting for organizing the annual Knights of Columbus Christmas parade. Choplin stalled when recalling actually how many years he has overseen the project—17 years.

Though some concerns arose about ATVs in the parade, Choplin told the council that there were few incidents that were handled during the parade.

"They are finally starting to understand,"he said of the 2008 parade's ATV riders.
