Couple’s shower fêtes Edwards, Habetz
BROUSSARD - The lovely Broussard home of the prospective groom’s godmother, Debbie Gaspard, was the setting for a delightful “‘Bee’-fore They Tie the Knot” couple’s shower in honor of engaged twosome Danielle Reneé Edwards of Jennings and Lance Michael Habetz of Roberts Cove.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Dr. Martha and Mr. Warren Hoag, and Dr. Barry Edwards, all of Jennings.
The prospective groom is the son of Dinah and Damian Habetz of Robert’s Cove.
The couple’s fête was held on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 24.
The Gaspard home, decorated by the prospective groom’s sister, Simone Habetz, reflected a classic Southern style featuring boxwood wreaths, candelabras with white tapers and crystal bowls filled with white hydrangeas and white roses.
Guests dined outside on tables covered with white linens under a large white tent strung with white lights and a large chandelier in its center.
The meal was prepared by a local caterer and served buffet style. Guests enjoyed a menu of cucumber sandwiches, spicy rice wrapped shrimp, chicken alfredo pasta, fried catfish and a giant tower of caprese skewers along with an open bar.
Those in attendance also enjoyed dancing to live music provided by a vocalist-guitarist and a saxaphonist.
The desserts and sweets, all prepared by the prospective groom’s sister, were a special highlight of the evening. An antique table decorated as an old-fashioned apothecary served as the “Candy Bar,” which included cake pops, vanilla meringues, cheesecake brownies and chocolate-covered cherries. A three-tiered table at its side was stacked with wedding cake cupcakes.
As shower favors, departing guests were asked to take jars of honey and honey dippers with tags declaring the betrothed couple’s union as “meant to ‘bee.’”
Approximately 80 guests were on hand for the event, with out-of-state guests from Texas and in-state guests from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Jennings, Lake Charles and Vinton.
Danielle is the granddaughter of Mrs. Beatrice Sabatier of Elton and the late Dr. Harold Sabatier, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Edwards of Mount Pleasant, Ark. After earning a bachelor’s degree in coastal environmental science from Louisiana State University in 2010, she is presently employed as an oceanographic research associate at Louisiana State University.
Lance is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Libby of Crowley, and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Habetz of Roberts Cove. Lance earned a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering in 2011 and is currently self-employed in the crawfish wholesale business.
The couple will be wed on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 26, during a 1 p.m. nuptial ceremony officiated by Fr. Anthony Fontenot at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Roberts Cove.
Following their wedding, the couple will reside in Lafayette.
