Couple exchange wedding vows in St. Joseph Cathedral

Laura Jane Adams and Garret Wayne Smith, both of Baton Rouge, exchanged wedding vows June 26, 2009 in the St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge.

Honored at the ceremony were the parents of the bride, Mr. And Mrs. Daniel Wilkerson Adams, Jr. of Crowley, formerly of New Orleans, and parents of the groom, Mr. And Mrs. Gordon W. Smith, Jr. of Baton Rouge.

The bride’s mother is the former Cynthia Ann Trouille and the groom’s mother is the former Rose Borne.

Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph G. Trouille, Sr. of Crowley and the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel W. Adams, Sr. of Isabel. The groom’s grandparents are the late Gordon W. Smith, Sr. and the late Jaynell Peavy of Port Allen and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Borne of Baton Rouge.

Father Alan Paul Trouille, cousin of the bride, was celebrant of the Nuptial Mass. Scripture readings were by Jamie Hetzel Guidry and Karen Hetzel Trahan, cousins of the bride. Offertory gifts were presented by Essie Cockrell, godmother of the bride, and Lisa Maxwell, godmother of the groom. Assisting with the wedding programs were Anna Walton and Rachel Fogleman, cousins of the bride.

Escorting the bride was her father, Daniel Adams, who gave her to her groom at the foot of the main altar of the church. Matron of honor was Katie Reilly Adams, sister-in-law of the bride. Maid of honor was Heather Christine Segretto, close friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Lainie Smith Audas, sister of the groom; Bridget Clare Ryder, Katie Lynn Hill and France-Claire Christiane Hebert, friends of the bride.

Serving as best man to the groom was his father, Gordon Smith. Groomsmen included Douglas Anthony Adams, brother of the bride; Ravi Kant Patel, David Boyer Helveston, Gregory Lynn Fell, Jr., Louis Joseph Bonnecaze, III, and Michael Bowman Irby, friends of the groom.

Ushering guests to their seats in the church were Christopher Daniel Adams, brother of the bride; Jeffrey John Audas, brother-in-law of the groom; William Carl Hetzel, cousin of the bride, and Matthew Ross Duplechain, friend of the groom.

Flower girl was Rose Maria Landry, and ring bearer was Joseph Paul Landry, both cousins of the bride.

A reception was held in the Heidelberg Ballroom of the Baton Rouge Hilton, Capitol Center, following the church ceremony. The couple then left for a wedding trip to Costa Rica. Upon their return, they plan to reside in Baton Rouge.

The new Mrs. Smith is a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans. She earned a degree in Education from Louisiana State University. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She will be teaching in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Her husband is a graduate of Episcopal High School in Baton Rouge and the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. He is a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. He is currently Vice President of Industrial Supply Inc.

Rehearsal dinner

A rehearsal dinner was held June 25, 2009 at the Camelot Club in Baton Rouge at 7 p.m., hosted by the groom’s parents
