CPD investigating shooting

CROWLEY - Crowley Police are investigating a shooting incident which occurred late Wednesday evening in the 200 block of North Ave A. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m.

Police were notified by hospital representatives that an individual was brought into the emergency room with gunshot wounds. Officers discovered that the victim had been shot in the head and the thigh area. The victim was transferred to a New Orleans hospital listed in critical condition.

“It is early in the investigation and we are working with evidence recovered to put this incident together. No arrest has been made at this time,” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.

“Our investigators are working with information which leads us to believe that this shooting is narcotics related with the intent of robbery of the victim,” stated Chief Gibson.

The victim has been identified as Brandon Comeaux, 32, of Crowley.

Gibson has previously spoken about his department’s ongoing battle against narcotics activity in Crowley. At a recent speech to the Crowley Lions Club he estimated that drugs are related to about 80 percent of the crimes his department investigates. He reiterated his determination to never stop fighting the battle against the narcotics trade.
