Crochet recognized as 2009 Mardi Gras t-shirt designer
IOTA – Miss Cameron Crochet was recognized as the designer for the official 2009 Mardi Gras T-Shirt adopted by the Tee Mamou Iota Mardi Gras Festival Association.
Cameron was presented with a $100 check for her design by T-Shirt Chairpersons Jackie Miller and Audrey Miller. The shirts are now available in the Iota area. Besides long and short sleeved shirts, the Mardi Gras board also offers caps, beanies, aprons, flags, and a new license plate for sale. Another added feature this year is the listing of the bands on the back of the t-shirts, and the time schedule.
The Mardi Gras Festival board has been busy finalizing the plans for this year’s Mardi Gras Festival which will be held on Mardi Gras day, February 24, in downtown Iota.
This marks the 22nd year the festival will be celebrated. This Cajun Prairie festival continues to offer only Cajun type foods and crafts, as well as entertainment.
General Manager, Elaine Chatagnier, states that the goal of this festival remains unchanged, “our goal is to continue to offer family fun which preserves our customs and heritage, while providing our local schools and organizations the opportunity to use this occasion as a major fund-raiser. We welcome and invite everyone to come and enjoy a truly unique festival’.
