Crowley Branch NAUW crowns 2013 royalty

CROWLEY - The National Association of University Women, Crowley Branch, hosted its 32nd annual pageant on the evening of Saturday, April 27, at Ambassador Ministries in Crowley.

This year’s pageant, themed “Diamonds are Precious and Rare,” was well-attended and featured 11 contestants vying for the titles of Little Miss/Little Master NAUW and Miss/Master Tiny Tot NAUW.

Melissa Espree served as mistress of ceremonies. After greetings from president Cynthia Winbush, the 2012 royalty was introduced by Meridian Vallery, followed by the introduction of 2013 royalty by Myrtle Cain.

Participating in this year’s pageant were:

-Ashton Terrell Brown, whose parents are Twana Lambert and Arthur Brown, and who was sponsored by Meridian Vallery;

-Anyal Fruge, whose parents are Antonio Fruge and Paige Moore, and who was sponsored by Cheryl S. Lewis;

-Oliver Price, whose parents are Velma Hickman and Gilbert Price, and who was sponsored by Betty M. Gums;

-Ke’Naria Hudson, whose parents are Nikki Goudeau and Keo Hudson, and who was sponsored by Dollie E. Monroe;

-Jayven Spencer, whose parent is Shalacy Spencer, and who was sponsored by Dr. Ezora J. Proctor;

-Josiah Citizen, whose parents are Joseph Citizen and Sasha Thorn, and who was sponsored by Pamela Thorns;

-Rylee Jones, whose parent is Brittany Jones, and who was sponsored by Myrtle Cain;

-Princess Asia Amaura Grogan, whose parents are Jessica Arvie and Gerald Grogan, and who was sponsored by Dr. Ezora J. Proctor;

-Destiny Zoe Jones, whose parent is Hilda Jones, and who was sponsored by Hilda Jones;

-Micheal Wayne Thomas Jr., whose parents are Micheal Thomas Sr. and Samanatha Thomas, and who was sponsored by Cynthia Winbush; and

-Jaliayah Angellic Washington, whose parents are Kacey Thomas and James Washington Jr., and who was sponsored by Melissa Espree.

After Dollie Monroe presented “Talent Alive,” Cheryl Lewis, Betty Gums and Hilda Jones presided over the “Grand Coronation.”

Crowned as 2013 royalty were Ke’Naria Hudson, Little Miss NAUW; Jayven Spencer, Little Master NAUW; Josiah Citizen, Master Tiny Tot NAUW; and Anyal Fruge, Miss Tiny Tot NAUW.

Following the coronation, Synergy Dance Productions of New Orleans performed in tribute to the new royalty.

Following reflections by Dr. Ezora J. Proctor, chairperson of the pageant, and Winbush, everyone enjoyed a “Green and White Royal Reception.”
