Crowley Ladies fall to Washington Marion

CROWLEY – Playing without standout senior guard Sharae Henry, the Crowley Ladies fell to 5-4 on the season Tuesday with a 59-30 home loss to Washington Marion.

Henry, the Ladies’ scoring leader, was sidelined with an ankle sprain and is expected to miss action for six to 10 days.

Crowley kept it close in the first quarter trailing just 13-9.

The Ladies failed to capitalize in the paint in the second quarter, missing numerous layups which led to Washington Marion taking a 20-12 cushion into the break.

The third quarter proved to be the backbreaker for the Ladies as Washington Marion’s press forced numerous turnovers resulting in a 27-6 run by the Lady Indians.

Trailing 47-18 heading into the final stanza, Crowley traded baskets with the Lady Indians as each team scored 12 points.

Lavetta Chaisson filled the void in Henry’s absence, scoring 14 points. Freshman forward Kara Wilridge followed with eight points.

Sarah Woodard added three points, Carlita George and Karen Citizen each scored two and Isis Broussard finished with one.

The Ladies will be in action this evening when they play host to Breaux Bridge at 6 p.m.
