Crowley officer fired following excessive force complaint
CROWLEY - The Crowley Police Department has completed an Internal Affairs investigation regarding two separate complaints by one individual. The complaints which were made were allegations of excessive force by Crowley Police officers.
The complaints stem from arrests, which were made on October 12, 2010 and October 23, 2010.
The first complaint which occurred on October 12, 2010, where the defendant was arrested for disturbing the peace, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest, finds that no policy violations occurred during the time of the arrest.
The second complaint which occurred on October 23, 2010, where the defendant was arrested for reckless operation of a vehicle, resisting arrest by flight and possession of crack cocaine, finds that policies of the Crowley Police Department were violated by an individual officer. This officer has been terminated from the employment of the Crowley Police Department effective November 5, 2010.
The two incidents were handled by different officers.
The Crowley Police Department added that no additional information shall be released as this is a personnel matter with pending rights of appeal. Criminal charges against the defendant have been filed accordingly.
