Crowley woman arrested for child desertion at Rice Festival

CROWLEY - A Crowley woman has been arrested after leaving her two-year-old child at the Rice Festival for hours without proper supervision. Tiffany Comeaux, 30 of Crowley has been arrested on one count of child desertion. She has since been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.

“This matter remains under investigation. Police received the complaint Saturday evening when an individual brought the child to police at the Rice Festival and indicated that the child’s mother had left to go to a vendor booth, but never returned” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.

It appears that the child was left with this person for several hours before the incident was reported to police.

The child has been taken into protective custody pending the investigation.

During an interview prior to the Rice Festival Chief Gibson emphasized the importance of watching your children in the large crowd.
