Crowley woman wins $14,000

LAFAYETTE – When April Bourque of Crowley called her husband to tell him that she won a $14,000 top prize from the Lottery’s Black Cherry Doubler scratch-off, he thought she was lying.

“I called my husband at work and I said ‘You will never guess what I did,’” explained Bourque.  “When I told him I won, he didn’t believe me.”

Bourque, age 28, shared that after winning a small amount from another scratch-off ticket, she decided to use her winnings to buy more tickets.  She chose Black Cherry Doubler because she loves to play slot machines.

Bourque purchased her top-prize winning ticket at Shop Rite #1 on South Parkerson Avenue in Crowley.  She plans to spend her winnings on her children.

Black Cherry Doubler is a $2 scratch-off that offers the chance to win up to 10 times on each ticket. There are four remaining top prizes as of April 2.

Persons must be at least 21 years of age to purchase a Lottery ticket.  Anyone who has a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem are encouraged to call toll-free 1-877-770-7867. For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their ticket immediately after purchasing.  Information about the Louisiana Lottery Corporation, including other $2 scratch-off games, can be found on its Web site,
