Daniel Edward Rogers
CROWLEY - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Daniel Edward Rogers, Sr., 81, who died February 27, 2010 in Crowley.
The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. A rosary will be led by Sr. Justina Baker at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Dan was born in Springfield, MA, and moved to Louisiana in 1952 to be a Disc Jockey for KSIG. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Rogers was dedicated to the community by being a member of the Knights of Columbus where he achieved the rank of 4th Degree Knight, a past president and parade master for the Rice Festival Association, and very active in the adult literacy program. He was a member of the Acadia Parish Police Jury where he served as president. Dan owned and operated Acadia Industries in Crowley. Finally, he was active in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where he was a lector, server, and communion and funeral coordinator.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years. Brunella T. Rogers of Crowley; four daughters, Bridget R. Vidrine and her husband Dewey of Youngsville, Annette R. Hatsfelt and her husband Ronnie of Oakdale, Maureen R. Blanchard and her husband Craig of Baton Rouge, and Stephanie Rogers and her companion Carla Champagne of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Daniel E. “Danny” Rogers, Jr. and his wife Gina of Crowley, and Michael Rogers and his wife Lynn of Crowley; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Rogers of Springfield, MA.
Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Florence Haggins Rogers; one sister, Barbara Dvorchak; and one brother, Donald “Rocky” Rogers.
Pallbearers will be his five grandsons, Adam Didier, Rick Stutes, Tyler Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Ethan Wyble, and family friend, Jeff Foreman.
The gift bearers will be his four granddaughters, Sarah Didier, Molly Stutes, Lindsey Rogers, and Anna Wyble.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael Catholic School, and Notre Dame High School.
