Day-long benefit to aid Bergeron, his mother after fire
A day-long benefit concert will be held at the Rayne Civic Center on Sunday, December 14, to aid well-known musician Jamie Bergeron, and his mother, Sapha,
Jamie and his mother lost all of their possessions and cars in the fire that destroyed the family home.
The musical entertainment will start at 10 a.m. Scheduled to perform are Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie, GTO, Spit Kup, Side Show, Felton Lejeune, Cheryl Cormier and more.
Jambalaya plate lunches will be sold.Sweets will also be sold.
Admission charges will be $5. Tickets are available from Bayou Silkscreening, Fezzo’s and Cowboys.
Live and silent auctions will be conducted.
An account has been set up and donations can be made at any Rayne State Bank branch to Account No. 1260098.
The Mire Volunteer Fire Department answered the alarm at six minutes to 4 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and remained on the scene until approximately 8:30 a.m., according to Chief Shannon Richard. Mutual aid was also provided by the Branch, Richard and Church Point Volunteer Fire Departments.
Jamie Bergeron was working at the time of the fire and not home, but his mother was in the house and was awakened by a barking dog and able to escape with injury.
Bergeron performed at all weekend shows scheduled.
