Descendants attend Rochester reunion
Descendants of the late Rev. Frank and Ezora Guidry Rochester, Sr. gathered on Saturday, June 27, for a family reunion held at the Rayne Civic Center Mural Room
The Hawaiian-theme event was spear-headed by the reunion committee, including president Wilton Cook and vice president LeRoy Cook; standing, secretary/treasurer Kathleen Cook, reporter Westanna Rochester and Sgt.-at-arms Carlton Cook.
Rev. Frank and Ezora Guidry Rochester, Sr. were the parents of Virginia Rochester Minix, Ophelia Rochester Mouton, Valsin Rochester, Sr., Alice Rochester, Bertha Rochester Alexander, Doris Rochester, Sr., Frank Rochester, Jr. The lone surviving child is Julia Harrison of California.
The family also includes 17 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
The eldest family member in attendance was Valsin Rochester, Jr. of Rayne, 79 years.
The youngest family member in attendance for the reunion was Dairontaé Cook, three month old son of Judith Waynette Cook of Rayne.
Traveling the farthest to attend the reunion was Alice Jean brown of Baytown, Texas.
Approximately 75 family members and guests attended the afternoon reunion and were treated to a variety of goodies including roast, dressing, green beans, salad, and a number of sweets.
Entertainment was provided by Junk Yard Dog DJ Services of Crowley.
The next Rochester reunion is planned for July 10, 2010 in Baytown, Texas.
