DISASTER FOOD STAMP DISTRIBUTION
St. Martinville – Officials with the Dept. of Social Services Office of Family Support would like the public to know the following information in relation to disaster food stamp distribution.
If you are already receiving food stamps, then you will not qualify for disaster food stamp assistance. If you are currently receiving food stamp assistance, then you do not need to apply for the disaster food stamp assistance. An adjustment will be automatically be made to your EBT card. Please do not come to the site, it will automatically be done for you.
For all others who wish to apply the site will be open for a minimum of seven days beginning today. There are no more applications being accepted today, they have reached their maximum number of applicants that they can process for today. Hours will be from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. or until they reach their maximum number of applicants for the day. Only one application per person will be processed.
When applicants arrive to complete their application they must have the following:
•Identification (picture identification, birth certificate, etc.)
•Proof of residency
•Proof of income (check stubs, direct deposit slips (for social security income, etc.)
•Name, date of birth, Social Security number of all household members
Authorized representatives who will be applying for someone who is physically unable to come and complete an application must have the following:
•Identification for themselves and head of household
•A written, signed statement from the head of household saying that they authorize said person to act on their behalf.
They are asking that those applying for assistance exercise patience because their are many people applying for assistance and every effort is being made to process their claims in a timely manner.
