CROWLEY – Wednesday morning’s meeting regarding the Crowley Restoration project brought updates as to how the project is fairing.
“Beginning Monday morning, we will be closing 3rd Street up to the Court Circle,” Ted Moulard of Merrick Construction proposed. “This part of the project is estimated to take about 30 working days, weather permitting” he added. Included in the closure will be 4th and 5th Streets.
Plans during this part of the renovation include detouring traffic to Mill Street, and that sporadically, message boards will be displayed to warn motorists of the changes. “We are in the good part of the working season. From now until November is usually the best time to work regarding weather conditions,” Moulard explained.
Further discussion on the subject included a surprise visit by Congressman Charles Boustany, who was pleased with the progress undertaken thus far.
Talks of sidewalks and gravel to be added while the roads are still under construction, with further planning and decisions left to be made.
Overall, the outlook concerning the city’s restoration project was favorable. Updates will be given each week as to the progress of the project.
