Dr. Tan, Beslin feted with champagne brunch
CROWLEY – The Crowley home of Judges John and M’elise Trahan served as the scene of a champagne brunch that celebrated the engagement and upcoming wedding of Dr. Charina “Chary” Tan of Alexandria and Luke Anthony Beslin of Rayne at 11 a.m., Sunday, July 28.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Dr. Erlinda C. Tan and the late Dr. Pedro “Jun” Tan of Davao, Philippines. The groom-elect is the son of Judge and Mrs. Denald A. Beslin of Rayne.
Hostesses for the brunch included the groom’s siblings and their spouses. They were Anne and Steve Credeur, Denise and John W. Trahan, Jeanne and Woody Walk, Mark and Renée Beslin, Matt and Chris Beslin, Judges M’elise and John Trahan and John Jude and Cynthia Beslin.
For the affair, the bride-to-be chose a beautiful sleeveless turquoise silk dress with delicate draping at the neck and waist, featuring a stylish asymmetrical hemline. The outfit was completed with a beautiful triple split strand pearl necklace and pearl stud earrings.
Guests traveled from across the state (Metairie, New Orleans, Lafayette, Baton Rouge and Alexandria), country (Silverdale, Wash.) and internationally (Davao, Phillippines), and were welcomed with elegant touches to the home to celebrate the couple, including a sign-in table featuring an 8-by-10 inch photograph of the couple in New Orleans and a hostess gift of a framed shadow box depicting the New Orleans skyline with the couple’s names and wedding date imprinted on it.
As guests moved further into the home, as well as the patio area, beautiful fresh flower arrangements met them, and each round table featured a centerpiece of a colorful flower arrangement in silver tea pots and vases.
The flowers continued onto the buffet table where a large arrangement of long-stemmed roses, gladiolas and greenery was placed along with a traditional New Orleans brunch, which included grits and grillades, homemade biscuits, mini mufalettas, vichyssoise, shrimp remoulade, crab dip, crawfish dip, deviled eggs, boudin, pork sausage, watermelon fruit bowl, cream cheese roll-ups with dip and a vegetable tray. For dessert, guests enjoyed red velvet cake and fleur de lis chocolates.
“Chary” and Luke will be joined in marriage at The Church of the Immaculate Conception in New Orleans in a 6 p.m. ceremony on Aug. 17. Fr. Kendal Faulk will officiate.
