DU Cajun Chapter Banquet a success
CROWLEY – The General Membership Banquet for the Cajun Chapter of Ducks Unlimited proved to be one of the most successful yet. With over 150 in attendance, over $17,000 was raised for wetlands conservation. The attendance increased over last year and the committee feels that it will continue to grow.
Dean Bergeaux, Louisiana Ducks Unlimited State Chairman and Cajun Chapter member thanked all the attendees for attending and their continued support of the ducks.
The social and meal of choice rib eyes was enjoyed by all along with all the “tales of the blind” that went around.
The committee wants to thank everyone in the community and surrounding areas for their support of the chapter and DU.
“Without their support this event and the funds raised for wetlands and waterfowl conservation and restoration would not be possible”, said Randy Leger, Cajun Chapter Chairman.
“It has been another successful year and the committee worked hard to provide a enjoyable night for everyone”, added Larry Chiasson, Zone Chairman. “The corporate tables sold well; many of these already reserved for next year,” he added.
Billy Beasley, District Chairman, Bryan Benoit, State Convention Chairman and Bergeaux, brought an idea to the chapter for the raffle that included a dozen decoys with a book of tickets.
“I attended a chapter banquet in central Louisiana and they sold out of decoys, so we decided to do the same for our chapter. We ordered 75 dozen. With presales and sales at the banquet we ran out.” Beasley noted. “Next year our goal will be to sell 100 dozen,” added Bryan.
