Early morning fire destroys home near VP

The Ville Platte Fire Department and District Two, Ward One, responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning, February 17. At 3:18 a.m.,

the first alarm sounded across the local firefighters’ pagers indicating a house fire was underway at 1221 Twin Oaks Drive. Directions to Hope Guidry’s home were given as firefighters were paged. Four trucks from Ville Platte, along with three trucks from Faubourg and one from Belaire Cove, responded to the call. Fifteen firefighters fought the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the structure, owned by Jude Vidrine. The origin of the fire was in the master bedroom. The fire marshal and Ville Platte Fire Department are working together to try to find the cause of this fire, which had not been identified at press time. The department remained on the scene until 4:41 a.m. and then returned throughout the day as the fire rekindled itself.
