Early voting ends

One thousand eight-hundred and three voters cast early ballots at press time, Saturday, July 12, according to the office of Lucas Buller, registrar of voters.
Voters are casting their ballots for the proposed Ward One School District Proposition, which asks the public to support the issuance of bonds not to exceed $21.5 million for a 30-year period. The monies will be used to construct a new Ville Platte High and upgrade Chataignier Elementary. Ward One consists of all of Chataignier, Belaire Cove, Faubourg and Ville Platte. On the western side of the parish, Ward One ends near Chauncey Pitre Road, near the Country Club and near the area known as Lutz Hill. If you’re unsure about Ward One, please contact the registrar’s office at 363-5538.
Early voting began Saturday, July 5, with 187 ballots being cast. Monday’s total was 222 votes and Tuesday had 318. The total on Wednesday was 990 votes in person. Thursday had 239. Friday’s total was 396 and Saturday’s total was 178 at press time.
The election is scheduled July 19.
