Early voting opens on tax renewal ballot

Early voting for the April 4 election will begin Saturday.

The only item on the April 4 ballot in Richland Parish will be a tax renewal for the Richland Parish Law Enforcement District. This is an existing tax that must be renewed every 10 years to remain in effect.

The half-cent sales and use tax is expected to bring in approximately $1,080,000 a year to be used for the purpose of providing additional funding for the operations of the sheriff’s office.

Early voting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 21-28 in the Registrar of Voter’s Office in the basement of the Richland Parish Courthouse in Rayville.

No early voting will be held on Sunday.

Also, eligible voters may request a mail ballot. To get a request form, a voters may visit the registrar’s office or download one from www.sos.louisiana.gov.
