JENNINGS – Services for Pastor Edias Comeaux, 83, will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Mr. Jack Harris and Brother Roland Berry officiating his memorial services.
Pastor Comeaux was called to His Heavenly Father from his home in Jennings Thursday afternoon surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Niblett Farms to the late Damond and Ella Broussard Comeaux on May 18, 1926.
Visitation was held at the funeral home beginning on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and continued on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 8 a.m. until time of service.
He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery following his memorial service where he will be honored with full military rites.
Pastor Comeaux was a retired Minister at the First Church of Christ for 50 years. He loved his church and preaching the word of God. Pastor Comeaux served his country proudly from 1944 to 1947 during WW II in the United States Army. He also enjoyed spending his time fishing and doing carpenter work. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and teacher of the Lord’s word. Pastor Comeaux will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Marjorie Delome Comeaux of Jennings; one son, Donald Ray and his wife Janet of Lake Charles; one daughter, Rhonda Lynn and her husband Darrell LeVergne of Roanoke; six brothers, Curtis, Eddie, Edward, Hilliard, and Russell Comeaux; two grandchildren, Shawn David Comeaux of Lake Charles and Christine Michelle and her husband Dwayne Guidry of Lake Charles; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cheyenne, and Natosha Guidry; five step grandchildren, Dean LeVergne, Kristie Pellerin, Leah Parker, Melissa Beard, and Laura Walters; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Nicholas LeVergne, Michael Pellerin, Baron Beard, Mason Leger, Daniel Beard, Payton Walters, and Cruz Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Damond and Ella Broussard Comeaux; and one sister, Lillian Delome.
Carrying Pastor Comeaux to his final resting place will be Hilliard, Eddie, Edward, and Russell Comeaux, Larry McGee, and David Manuel. Honorary pallbearer will be his brother, Curtis Comeaux.
