Efforts made by Crowley police to clean up streets

CROWLEY – Enforcement efforts continue as members of the Crowley Police Department are working hard to clean our streets. “The efforts have been great and the officers are fighting to rid the streets of criminal element, however it remains a tough challenge for the department,” stated Chief of Police K.P. Gibson. “My hat goes off to the officers for their relentless efforts for the citizens of Crowley.”

In recent weeks, Crowley Police have made arrest for many different criminal violations. The one area, which seems that will never have a low number of violators of the law, seems to be with the narcotics industry. “Narcotics seems to be the cause behind a majority of crimes committed, thus it will remain as one of our main focuses of enforcement within our community” stated Chief Gibson.

During the past several weeks, 35 people have been arrested and charged by Crowley Police with a narcotics charge, with 5 of the total being juveniles. “We are seeing an increase in juvenile involvement in the narcotics industry. DARE can only do so much. Parents, grandparents and other family members need to get involved with the youth of their family and our community before we lose another generation to this epidemic” stated Chief Gibson.
