Election '08 by the numbers
A few numbers from last night’s election in Acadia Parish:
Those voting in the presidential election in Acadia Parish broke down as follows: 19,228 people voted for Arizona Senator John McCain with 7,028 voting for President-elect Barack Obama.
In the Crowley City Judge race, 4,214 people voted for M’elise Trahan with 3,592 voting for Lyle Fogleman.
In the voting on the seven amendments that were on the ballot Acadia parish residents voted as follows as of press time:
For Amendment 1, which supported term limits for members of state boards and commissions the results in Acadia Parish were 14,676 for the amendment with 7,697 voting against it.
For Amendment 2, regarding time limits for calling special sessions in the legislators: Acadia Parish residents voted for the amendment by a vote of 12,005 to 10,030.
For Amendment 3, which called for temporary successor for legislators ordered to active military active duty; Acadia Parish residents voted for the amendment by a vote of 13,018 to 9,013.
