Elizabeth (“Betty”) Anne Roberts Orillion
CROWLEY - Elizabeth (“Betty”) Anne Roberts Orillion passed from this life after 82 years on September 5, 2013. She was the lovely wife of Alfred G. Orillion for over 59 years. She is survived by her husband and children: Nannette (Bernie) Coons, Matthew (Tammy) Orillion, Lise (Pete) Kalla, and Roxy (Brandt) Fincher. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lily Roberts, and sister, Helen Price.
Graduate of Lafayette High in 1948, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI) in 1953. She was employed by the welfare agency in Opelousas, LA, as well as a high school mathematics teacher in Cecilia, LA, until marrying Alfred in 1954. They resided in Idaho Falls, ID, and Cincinnati, OH, where she was employed as a mathematician by General Electric. They moved to Huntsville, AL, in 1961, where she successfully practiced as a licensed real estate broker for 33 years.
Active in public affairs, Betty achieved many accomplishments, including being awarded Huntsville’s "Outstanding Jayceette of the Year" in 1964. Betty, beloved mother and wife, was a friend to whomever she knew and loved by many. Her precious spirit and joy of life will be greatly missed by all.
Her funeral will be held on September 13, 2013, in Crowley, LA, with visitation at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Orillion Family plot in Crowley. Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church will be officiating for the services.
