Elizabeth slips past Northside Christian in extra innings
ELIZABETH – Northside Christian’s 11-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt Thursday when Class C’s No. 4 ranked Elizabeth rallied for one run in the bottom of the eighth inning to claim a 3-2 victory over the Warriors.
The loss sent Northside to 14-5 on the season.
The Warriors committed four errors in the game, resulting in two unearned runs..
Elizabeth took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before Northside’s Joe Trahan tied the game in the fourth with a solo home run.
Elizabeth reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a ground out with runners at second and third base.
Northside rallied to tie the game in the top of the seventh on a RBI single by Jeremy Marceaux but three straight fly outs left two runners stranded.
Elizabeth took advantage of a leadoff error and two Northside walks in the eighth inning to score the winning run.
Trahan and Nick Gotte each had two hits for the Warriors while Marceaux and Josh Wheeler each had one.
Northside took on Ascension Day Saturday but results were not available at press time.
