Ella Gaspard Garrie
CROWLEY – Funeral Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, for Ella Gaspard Garrie, 97, who died Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Southwind Nursing & Rehab Center of Crowley.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder of St. Michael Church will conduct the Funeral Mass.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne.
Surviving are one daughter, Mabel Duhon of Crowley; one son and daughter-in-law, Wilbert and wife, Ella Jane Garrie of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Claire Domingue, Perry Garrie, Neil Garrie, David Garrie, Jeff Garrie, Josette Abshire, Annette Guidry, and Curt Duhon; 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Garrie and by her parents, Francis and Eve Schexnayder Gaspard; three brothers Henry Gaspard, Theoeule Gaspard, Mayo Gaspard; six sisters, Delta Stutes, Lucille Hayes, Eve Garrie, Eva Rayburn, Nola Russo, and Theresa Leger; one son-in-law, Noelton Duhon, and one grandson-in-law, David Abshire.
She was born Sunday, July 30, 1911 in Acadia Parish, daughter of the late Francis Gaspard and the late Eve Schexnayder.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Altar Society.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Katira and staff at Southwind Nursing Home.
Friends were received from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, April 27 and visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday, April 28 at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
