SCOTT –– Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Elmo Lantier, 91, who died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Magnolia Estates surrounded by his family.
Entombment was in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum.
Reverend Thomas Voorhies, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, was the celebrant of the funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services.
Giftbearers were his grandchildren. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, sang for the services “Go Rest High on that Mountain,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “I Will Never Forget You.”
He is survived by one daughter, Sally Marcantel and her husband, Louis; one son, Abby Lantier and his wife, Judy; three grandchildren, Amber Lantier, Brandi Stone and her husband, Brent, and Daniella Poirrier and her husband, Keith; and two sisters, Sybil Blanchard and Ethel Harvey.
He was preceded in death by his spouses, Sophie Hernandez Lantier and Lula Vincent Lantier; his parents, Elie and Edith Sonnier Lantier; one grandson, Damian Marcantel; two brothers, Freddy Lantier and Antoine Lantier; and one sister, Roseamae Prejean.
A native of Scott, Louisiana and resident of Milton for most of his life, Mr. Lantier was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He was a dedicated employee of Jack Guilbeau Construction Company for many years until his retirement. He was a very talented carpenter and loved working with his hands. Mr. Lantier was also a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Community in Scott. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers were Terry Dugas, Keith Poirrier, Russell Lantier, Jude Lantier, Brent Stone, David Harvey and Keith Prejean.
A Rosary was recited on Monday, April 15, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. in Martin & Castille’s SCOTT location.
The family requested visitation be observed on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
