Engineer change could stall sewer project
A La. Dept. of Health official told the Eunice News Friday afternoon that a change in engineering firms on the LSUE Dr.-Superette sewer lines project essentially means the permitting process will have to start over.
Mayor Bob Morris terminated Aucoin & Associates after bids were received and hired Acadian Environmental.
Jody White, of the Health Dept office in Lafayette, said the permit is engineer-specific.
“It requires the permitted engineer’s stamp of approval on completion. Changing engineers means changing permits,” she said.
That confirms concerns expressed by Alderwoman Chawana Fontenot in a Thursday letter to Morris and others.
Planning for the lines began last summer.
