Krewe of Atlantis celebrates 18th annual ball
Queen Hera XVII Butchie Arceneaux
The Krewe of Atlantis held its eighteenth ball and pageant on Saturday February 15, 2014, at Hotel Acadiana in Lafayette. The theme of the ball was “Atlantis’ American Bandstand”.
Reigning over the festivities was Queen Hera XVII, Butchie Arceneaux. Married to Frank Arceneaux, she is the mother to Monica, married to Michael Cullen, and Buddy Arceneaux. She is grandmother to Emerson Paul and John Hudson Cullen.
Butchie is a graduate of Our Lady of Fatima High School, Spencer Business College and attended USL. She retired from the Lafayette Parish School System and is also a member of the Krewe of Olympus.
A royal blue flowing ball gown accented with Swarovski crystals at the neckline and midriff was her attire for the night. Butchie was escorted by her husband Frank.
The 50’s era of Atlantis’ American Bandstand was represented by Helen Kennedy. Married to Larry Kennedy, she is the mother to Kyle Kennedy, married to Crissy, and Tara Kennedy and Vance Boudreaux. She is grandmother to Kolby, Cameron, Avery, and Peyton Kennedy.
Helen is a graduate of Scott High School and attended USL. She is employed by W. H. Robbins & Associates, LLC. She is also a member of The Krewe of Olympus and enjoys shopping, sporting events, casinos and movies.
Helen wore red one shoulder fitted ball gown and was escorted by her husband for the evening.
The 60’s Era was represented by Yvette Lantier.Married to Mike Lantier, she is the mother to Kerry, married to Luke Montz, Mickey Lantier and Melanie Lantier. Yvette is grandmother to Kassie Lantier, Bailee Centeno, Dylan Centeno and Kamdyn Montz.
Yvette graduated from Maurice High School, has a BS at USL in Education, and is employed at St. Thomas More High School. She is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Krewe of Atlantis Treasurer and La. Retired Teachers Association.
Yvette wore a floor length gown of brown bodice accented with gold and a black skirt. She was escorted by her husband, Mike.
The 70’s Era was represented by Carolyn Cormier-Stoute. Married to Murphy Stoute, Carolyn is the mother of Tim and Cody and grandmother of Jaden, Gabe, and Laykin. She graduated from Acadiana High School, attended USL, and is employed with Chase Bank. She is president of the Scott Business Association, as well as being Queen Olivia XII, President of Krewe of Olympus with serving on board for more than 12 years, and also was past treasurer of the Krewe of Atlantis. She was the Director of National level for American Hibiscus Society and officer of Acadian Hibiscus Society and Red Stick Hibiscus Society, a member of Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and is involved with the City of Scott Centennial.
She wore a dark grey ball gown highlighted with turquoise Swarovski crystals with rosette design. Carolyn was escorted by her husband Murphy.
The 80’s Era was represented by Gwen Meche Hilburn. She is married to Gary Hilburn and is the mother of Nancy, married to Mike Gregory, Ally, married to Steven Graham, and Kelli, married to Sean Louviere. She is the grandmother of Jackson and Farrah Graham, Kennedy and Bryce Louviere, Alex, Andrew and Ryan Elizabeth Gregory.
She is a graduate from Church Point High School, T. H. Harris Business College and attended USL. She retired from Darnall, Sikes, Gardes & Frederick, CPA’s. Besides being a member of Krewe of Atlantis, she is involved with the BB Group of Lafayette and enjoys beach fun, family and friends.
Gwen wore a lead colored formal ball gown with crystal bodice. She was escorted by her husband, Gary.
Serving as Ball Mistresses were Cindy Prejean and Jeanette Lanclos. Master of Ceremony was Bob Moore of KLFY-TV 10 of Lafayette.
Providing music for the evening was Greg Credeur of Greg Credeur Productions.
