Erath Man Arrested for Online Solicitation of a Juvenile

LAFAYETTE PARISH- Yesterday, Detectives with Louisiana State Police, assisted by agents with the FBI, arrested an Erath man for charges relating to online solicitation of a juvenile.

In February of this year, Detectives were working undercover as a juvenile female in various online chat rooms and social media websites. While undercover, Detectives were contacted by 21-year-old Micah Landry of Erath. Over the course of the four month long investigation, Landry initiated several sexually explicit conversations and sent sexually explicit photographs to the undercover Detectives.

Yesterday, Landry arranged to meet who he believed was the juvenile female in the Lafayette area. When Landry arrived to meet the juvenile, he was taken into custody without incident by Detectives and FBI agents. During the arrest, Detectives recovered a stolen handgun that Landry had in his possession.

Landry was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for possession of a stolen firearm, computer aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

This case remains under investigation.

This case was a part of operation child watch. The mission of operation child watch is to protect children from the abuse of child predators. State Police will continue partnering with local, state and federal agencies to locate people who prey on the innocence of a child.
