CROWLEY – Father Emmanuel E. Etim assumed the office of pastor at St. Theresa Catholic Church during mass Sunday morning. Monsignor Jeff DeBlanc of the Diocese of Lafayette took part in the ceremony which was held before a joyous congregation.

Etim, who has served as a Catholic priest since 1987, comes to Crowley after having served for a time in Beaumont, Texas. He is a native of Nigeria and has done extensive work in many African nations including Liberia and Malawi.

Etim was all smiles as he greeted members of his congregation after mass Sunday morning. Several church members stayed behind to give Etim their congratulations and chat after the service.

“Father Emmanuel is very deserving of this honor and judging from what I see this congregation is very deserving of him,” said Father DeBlanc. “I look forward to visiting often in the future.”

During the mass, St. Theresa recognized Trinity Sunday to celebrate the divine relationship of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
